9 ct Gold Pocket Watch To Captain Jordan Lloyd Williams - Denbighshire Yeomanry & Royal Flying Corps.  Very exceptional 9ct Gold Pocket watch. John Jordan Lloyd - Williams Esq; M C - Military Cross Winner, Captain in Denbighshire Hussars, Yeomanry and Royal Flying Corps.  Served in Egypt and Palestine.  Marked out the Desert route between Cairo & Baghdad.  Stayed in Amman after the War, One of Lord Trenchard's men to join the Police College and had a Metropolitan Division and was made the First Police Air Inspector.  Called to the Bar in 1943.  Chief Constable of Cardingshire. Attended Oswestry School -  Died in 1948. Born 1894 - An article from Top cover dated 30th October 1917: Today a German two seater managed to avoid the Fighter patrols and flew over the British back area's on the Beersheba Flank.  However, when the German Airmen were about to recross the lines, they were spotted by a Bristol F2b ( A7194 ) From 111 Squadron, with Captain Arthur Hicks Peck and Captain John Jordan Lloyd Williams.They Succeeded in Shooting the Aircraft Down and the crew were taken Prisoner.  Their Photographic plates, marked maps, and notes were recovered by the British instead of reaching the Turkish Forces.  The intervention no doubt prevented the enemy forces from learning more about the British plan and assisted in the successful assault the following day.Military Cross citation reads as follow's :  Captain John Jordan Lloyd Williams Yeomanry attached  Royal Flying Corps : For Conspicuous Gallantry and Devotion to Duty in Aerial Fighting.  He Shot down three Hostile aeroplanes in a very short period, showing great initiative and Fearlessness on all occasions.  London Gazette : 23rd April 1918.  Also an entry and Picture in the Australian war memorial: Posted in 1917 Operations Palestine Royal Flying Corps 111 Squadron Jordan Lloyd-Williams. SOLDIn August 1917 Capt Jordan Lloyd- Williams was attached to 111 squadron R F C in Palestine to serve as an Observer/ Gunner in Bristol F.2b two seater Fighter's.  Between 8th October and 8th November 1917 he was credited with three enemy aircraft destroyed and two captured.The Gold Waltham pocket watch is correctly Hallmarked 9 - carat .375 - Gold Birmingham Hallmark circa 1919 - started production in 1917 - 17 Jewels  Inner case stamped A W W. co - Dennison Watch case - serial number 21225407  Comes in a case ( Not the original ) However fits nicely inside and I would say is period to watch.  Initials inside the pocket watch.   The pocket watch itself has been in a collection of pocket watches since the 1970s were it was purchased from the Family.
